A magazine for musicians and producers

Xound is a bimonthly magazine about instruments and musical equipment, as well as people from the international music scene. Initially I was commissioned to introduce some improvements to its somewhat aged design, but then I kept doing most of the layouts for each issue.

What I did:
Redesign of an existing layout, continuous layout of large part of the magazine

An issue of Xound magazine typically features one or two long artist interviews over six to twelve pages. These are mostly designed somewhat independently from the magazine’s other sections and feature a style unique to every story.

A large part of the magazine consists of reviews and workshops and revolves around instruments and musical equipment. Consistent use of design elements like typography, colors or the consistent use of a grid system create a recognizable look while still allowing for particular stories to maintain a unique visual character to match their content.
